Leave it all on the Parklands
Adelaide Marathon Festival is South Australia’s Premier Running Event, and runs along all the major scenic locations within the Adelaide CBD. In 2025, Adelaide will host the 47th edition of this iconic race, which has run without a break now, and probably the only race in Australia that was held even during the heights of COVID-19, in a safe setting.
The race is run along a 2-lap course and has an elevation gain of roughly 160 meters. The course is very spectator friendly and allows spectators to get to different parts of the course to cheer on the runners with minimal effort. The location of the 2025 start will be announced in November when the AFL release the 2025 AFL game schedule. Assuming the Adelaide Oval has a free weekend, the race will start in front of the Adelaide Oval on War Memorial Drive and head on to Bonython Park. The course then heads along the River Torrens, through Botanic Gardens and onwards towards the Uniloop, the famous stomping grounds of many of Adelaide running groups. The course then does and out and back on War Memorial Drive before diving down onto the path, following the river towards the Par 3 Golf Course, a loop on Montefiore before doing a loop through the Oval gardens and finishing in front of the Oval.
The course is AIMS certified, enabling participants to qualify for iconic races like the Boston Marathon.
There’s prize money on offer for the Top 5 (Marathon and Half Marathon) and Top 3 (10km and 5km), along with the top SARRC finisher.
Adelaide Marathon is organised by the South Australian Road Runners Club (SARRC).
SARRC is a not-for-profit running club run by members and volunteers.
